London Mithraeum, Bloomberg European Headquarters

In 2015 we were approached by one of the UK’s leading stone restoration and installation companies to supply black granite slabs for this prestigious project.  Samples of the purest Shanxi black stone with a variety of surface finishes were imported to the UK for evaluation, slip testing and approval.

The scope of supply required visits to the quarry and factory in China to ensure that the extraction and processing of the stone would be done in a sustainable and ethical way as part of the procurement process.  Detailed drawings of each individual piece of stone were sent to the factory and subsequent visits were made to check the quality of stone used across the project, the uniformity of surface finish and the dimensional accuracy. The stone was carefully packed  for shipping and we arranged specialist open top containers to enable safe un-loading of the very largest pieces using a HIAB crane at our premises.

Bespoke granite steps, flooring tiles, slate wall cladding and Reception furniture

We were commissioned to design and supply a comprehensive package of granite products for the refurbishment of the Reception, staircase and corridors of the factory.  The silver grey granite floor tiles in the Reception had an attractive Flamed & Brushed finish to contrast the stacked slate feature wall.  We designed and supplied the Reception desk and the upholstered visitor furniture.

In addition, the new staircase featured a mix of glass treads and polished silver grey granite treads and risers. We fitted anti-slip inserts to the treads.  Accurately made polished granite fascias completed the staircase structure.  In other areas of the building we supplied polished granite floor tiles in silver grey granite and a visitor seating area finished in polished black Basalt tiles.

Beige Granite Driveway and Paving

Beige Granite Driveway, Path and Patio

The clients wanted to modernise their existing block paved driveway and create new pathways linking the drive to the front of the house. To compliment the colour of the brickwork, we supplied beige granite. To give the driveway and paths extra grip underfoot we specified a bush hammered finish. Driveway slabs were manufactured 40mm thick to take the weight of a car comfortably, while the paving was 20mm thick.

In addition to the natural stone slabs we supplied matching granite setts and curbs to be used as edging. Granite is an easy material to work with and can be cut accurately around man holes covers, as shown in the photos below.

Bespoke Garden Furniture, water feature, paving & steps

We really enjoyed being involved with this self build project in Kent as the client had a clear idea of what they wanted. The brief was simple; supply quality, accurately made, unique natural stone products that would last a lifetime. Granite was used both inside and outside on this three bedroom house, with 2 sunken gardens and a large landscaped back garden.

We were responsible for the design and supply of a range of made to order granite products including over-size granite sofas and coffee table under a shade sail.

In addition, the design, supply and installation of an attractive black Basalt water feature. For one sunken garden we designed and supplied the granite steps leading from the garden. The contract also included the manufacture of flame finished granite paving for the patios and a black Basalt dining table and bench. Inside the house we supplied granite window sills.

Kimchee – Pancras Square

Bespoke indoor water feature and wall cladding

Following the success of the first Kimchee in High Holborn, we were again approached to supply granite wall cladding and a bespoke water feature for the newly developed restaurant at Pancras Square, London. These restaurants are well worth a visit as they epitomise far eastern design concepts. The materials used in this project are all solid stone and real wood.

The Wall cladding is made from Angolan Black granite, which originates from Lubango, in south-west Angola. This black granite has real character. It isn’t a pure uniform colour, but instead has a wonderful mottling of grey and silver. This adds texture and depth to the stone. In this dark restaurant setting the spot lights pick up flecks of silver which sparkle on the walls. This luxurious stone is also ideal for kitchen worktops and bathrooms.

The Water Feature was custom made in Europe using a dark grey European granite. This stone was chosen to be a match for the porcelain floor tiles. We were given a 2D concept drawing of the water feature, so to ensure the design would work we made a prototype of the water feature in wood prior to production.
